This residence is well situated to take advantage of Sound views near coastal Connecticut’s Rhode Island border. Recent improvements to the mature landscape—much of which was planted in the 1940’s—include heavy editing of trees that were beginning to decline in health and stature. Vehicular circulation is currently being re evaluated to take better advantage of natural topography and existing vegetation and to address drainage issues. The new driveway and parking layout will also improve visitors’ experience by highlighting and facilitating arrival to the front door rather than the back. Intimate garden spaces for outdoor dining and relaxing are being added, and an existing lawn terrace is being improved with an edge of hardscape that will, literally and figuratively, create a ‘cleaner’ and more user friendly space. The master plan that was created for this property will serve to guide future development phases for years to come.
